ProjectThe World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that more than 1.6 million people die of pneumococcal disease every year, half of them being children under five years. Pneumococcal disease is preventable by vaccination. PneumoADIP (Pneumococcal Vaccines Accelerated Development and Introduction Plan) was formed by the GAVI Alliance in 2003 to accelerate the introduction of pneumococcal vaccines in the world's poorest countries. ObjectivesRuder Finn helped develop and implement a communications strategy raising awareness and commitment from leading European and US donors and recognition as a national priority among developing country policy makers. Another part of the strategy helped build influential consensus among the leading scientific stakeholders around pneumococcal disease and the need for life saving vaccines |
