Digital Director


Ruder Finn’s digital credentials are well established, but we’re looking for a new Digital Director to lead this key department’s growth as well as to complement core business areas including healthcare, tech and internal comms. You will be tasked with leading a small but confident team into a new period of digital growth for the agency, representing Ruder Finn at Senior Management level and as a leading PR agency in digital. A true thought leader that can spot the trends we need to capitalise on, you’ll bring a renewed energy to a team of digital leaders.


Key responsibilities:

  • Develop a vision & long-term digital strategy for the agency/in-house digital division that aligns with core business objectives
  • Lead/manage the digital division (both personnel and finance) and ensure its growth
  • Work with other division heads, the Financial Director and the MD to monitor continuously and recommend improvements to our existing digital offering
  • Attend/lead new business pitches/meetings and contribute to the development of campaigns strategies and creative concepts
  • Sit on the Senior Management team with accountability for the delivery of best in class, profitable digital properties
  • Be the ambassador for the agency’s digital business, playing an active role in the wider digital industry
  • Be an analytical/strategic thinker, a creative problem solver, resourceful, able to initiate change and motivate innovation and creativity and willing to take risks
  • Ensure data is at the forefront of all initiatives with key insights provided to all stakeholders
  • Maintain alliance and share best practices with RF US & international businesses
  • Lead the development of the digital team as a centre of excellence across all aspects of digital marketing/communication: social listening, social media governance, influencer marketing, social media strategy and activation, paid media, website/app build, etc.
  • Champion our digital services and support clients and colleagues across the organisation in understanding the best use and value of digital, ensuring alignment with the clients’ wider strategic goals
  • Monitor the digital market – assessing and highlighting trends, new technologies, and potential opportunities/challenges for the agency


Essential skills

  • Allowed to work in the UK: as an EU citizen or already in possession of the appropriate work visa
  • A significant, successful track record of experience in digital media or a relevant adjacent sector
  • Able to hold key strategic discussions at a very high level, having an opinion in different digital market subjects including social, analytics, SEO, paid media and content strategy
  • Pragmatic, problem solver
  • Collaborative and team-orientated attitude
  • Effective negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Great communications skills, both written, verbal and presentations
  • Ability to work under pressure without turning into a diva
  • Good sense of humor and desire to get involved with agency culture
  • Experience working on international teams and dealing with clients from different cultural
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills
  • Excellent leadership skills; with the ability to inspire, coach, develop and performance manage others
  • Able to think strategically and model new ways of working
  • Specific healthcare experience and knowledge of pharmaceutical codes of practice relating to healthcare digital marketing both at a UK and international / EU basis
