Meningitis Real Voices
MENINGITIS REAL VOICES
Since its launch, the Meningitis: Keep Watching campaign has generated widespread engagement from the online parenting community through the use of engaging video content, building an online community of thousands and achieving millions of film views.
Last year, Ruder Finn was tasked with creating new video collateral for the Meningitis: Keep Watching Facebook page, which would re-engage the community and sensitively depict the true devastation that meningitis can cause. Our approach was to harness the ‘Real Voices’ of those who have experienced the disease first hand to create hard-hitting and emotionally impactful videos that would underline the importance of prevention.
In collaboration with award winning film production company Bare Films (who worked on the original Meningitis: Keep Watching film) and meningitis charities Meningitis Now and Meningitis Research Foundation, three short films were developed telling the real-life stories of individuals and families affected by meningitis.
These included a bereaved parent, a parent of a child who survived meningitis and a friend of a teenager who died of meningitis. The three films were launched on the Meningitis: Keep Watching Facebook page during winter, a peak time for meningitis cases in the UK, and were promoted via a series of Facebook posts and targeted social media advertising.
To date the films have together achieved over 450,000 views on YouTube.
