Ruder Finn has been appointed by Avantium to support its mission to become a global leader in sustainable chemistry. The Euronext-listed company has perfected systems for producing plastics and other chemicals widely used in consumer goods, using plant-based feedstocks instead of oil. Avantium is best-known for pioneering the development of PEF, a 100% plant-based and recyclable polymer with wide range of applications, including packaging, textiles, and film.
Appointed following a competitive pitch, Ruder Finn will support Avantium’s global growth strategy through messaging, influencer relations, and content. The programme is run from the agency’s London office.
Caroline van Reedt Dortland, Director of Communications for Avantium, said: “As a fast-growing business it is vital that our stakeholders clearly understand – and support – our direction of travel. Ruder Finn’s assessment of our market, and its strategic recommendations, stood out from the rest. We are excited about our partnership as 2020 unfolds.”
Robin Grainger, Director of Connected Communications at Ruder Finn, added: “From our very first conversation, we were inspired by Avantium’s mission and commitment. It is challenging accepted wisdom within the plastics industry, which has become heavily dependent on petroleum and fossil feedstock. As brands come under growing pressure to reduce their dependence on oil, Avantium’s technologies will become increasingly relevant. We see our job as helping to accelerate that process.”
